When We Left Earth

Yesterday, we watched a cool video on the original astronauts from the Mercury Project. It is considered one of the crowning achievements in the history of mankind, and rightly so. The United States sent a man to outer space on the top of a jet missile, and then got him back to Earth.

  1. What would it have been like to be one of the first astronauts? Describe the positives and negatives to being one of the first people in space. Would you have wanted to be in Alan Shephard's space shoes?

  2. Would you have been nervous/scared/excited/etc.? Explain. Do you have any life experiences where you have felt the kind of emotions that astronauts felt before launching?

  3. Could just anyone become an astronaut? What are some of the challenges to becoming one? Which qualities are the most important?

  4. Why was it so important to send a human to outer space?

1. I would not want to be in alan sherperds shoes. The risk would be to great , i could die run out of air explod. And the pressure would be way too much and have so many people look up to you. But it would be cool to look at the earth form space and be famous.
2. i would have been very scared nervous and exicted to go to space.
3. It would be hard to be an atornot because you have to though alot of training , phiscaly and mentaly. TO be an ansrtonot you must be able ot work withothers work welll alone , be smart adn strong , and handle bad sitions well.

1. It'd be crazy and very nerveracking because you don't know how it's going to turn out. You could have success and gain a lot of info, or fail and die.
3. I think that anyone could become an astronaut if they had the courage and strength (mental and physical) to complete the tasks.
4. I think it's important to send a human out into space so you can get important data that machines couldn't get or they could mess up on.

1. it would be amazing, just to know that you are like the second person in the world to enter space. But one of the negative things would be having to know what all the gages and stuff meant.

2. i woulda been pretty excited but maybe a little nervious because you dont know whats gonna happen but it woulda been pretty cool.

3. i dont think so because it takes a lot of training and studying so you would know what its like to be in the space ship with no gravity and knowing what everything meant in the ship.

4. so they would know if it could be done and they wanted to catch up with Russia.

1. nervewracking and awesome with a side of a major addrennaline rush.
2. I would have had every, and I mean EVERY emotion going through my mind.
3. qualities of becoming an astronaut must be smarts, you need to be strong, you need to be a quick thinker, and you need to have the courage.
4. Even though we were losing the space race, we needed to go to space anyway. So we did and we owned the russians by landing on the moon and they are massively jelous

1. It would be good because you will become famous, cause you were the first in space. Postive; you get to be the first to explore space. Negative; you don't know what could happen because they are just learning how to build spaceships. No, i would like to be one of the first people but not the first because so many things could go wrong.
2. I would be excited because i get to explore space and no one has really ever explored it. I would also be scared and nervous bacause nothing is predicitble and you don't know what could all go worng.
3. Not just anyone could be one. I think you need to be fit in some way and smart with this kind of technology, plus you need to be healthy so you wouldn't get sick or in a heart attack while up in space cause no one would be around to help you enless you had someone on the flight with you.
4. It's impotant to send someone so we know it's all really there and you cna probably see more then pictures do. it could help with making new technology too!

1. Positive would be you are the first person to go up into space and you would be remeberd forever
Negative: Run the risk of death
3. you would have to be coragous and brave. also you need to be able to leave your family for a long time
4. to study the universe

We wanted to send someone in space because see if we could live and see how we would live. Its hard to be an astronauts because you go trough all these tests have to go to school. Would of been scared if I went in to space because I dont know if I would live if I was the first, something could go wrong but it would be good to be the first.

2. Yes. I would have been excited and nervous. I would have been excited about going into space, but nervous if the rocket blew up or there was a defect.

3. No. Astronauts have to be trained and expect to possibly lose their lives in space.

4. It was important to send a person into outer space so we could catch up to Russia in the space race. We also needed to explore more of our galaxy to figure out how stuff in the galaxy works.

1. I believe it would be an amazing experience. I also believe that some pros would be you would make a new experience able to happen. You would be the first to discover new things. I believe some cons would be is that the space shuttle could have blown up on its way up and if you were gonna be the first you would not know if you would survive or not. And i would not have wanted to be in Alans Space shoes for the fact that i wouldn't really want to be tyhe first to go out to outerspace to me it just seems to much of a risk because you werent sure if you would live or not.

2. I would have been very scared no joke. I don't believe i would have been able to fallen through with it. I get very nervous right before a basketball game or a chours concert or even a band concert. Its just the fact im not sure what was going to happen so i would be afraid.

4. It wouold be important to be the first because you then would be able to show scientist that people would survive in outerspace. You could find to discorvies. And you would become very famous and well known.

1) It would be scary. People would be proud of you if you were the first. You could die though. No, because he was the first American and something could have gone really wrong.
2) Yes, because you never know what could happen. Yes, when I am waiting to get on for the talent show and I don't know if Signature will mess up.
4) They needed to collect data and learn more about space.

1. it would have been cool because no one else would have been there yet but it would be scarry becasue no one else was there and you wouldnt know what to expect.
2.
3.not just any one could become a astronaut because some people wouldnt like the small space in the rocket and they wouldnt like it when you launch and alot more things you have to do before becoming a astronaut.
4. it is important for humans to go to outer space because we want to learn about things outside our world and we want to find intelegant life.

1. it would be awesome to be the first one in outer space because you could see what u cant on earth but the negative is that you would not know what to do if you where trapped there or if your froze or hit a plante.

2. both because if you failed and excited to be the first one

3.you have to be smart and trained and fit. so if somthing goes wrong they can fix it.

4. so we can see that we can get to outer space and go to other planets.

Hayley H said...

1. positives: you know your seeing something no one has ever seen before and that you with make a lot of scientific discoveries and make history.
negatives: you never know if your going to live or die and if you will make it into space.
3. To be very health and not have health issues and not mind being alone. Also must have a good education.
4.So scientists can know what is in space and get good diagrams of what space truly looks like.

1. it would be awesome to be the first one on eawrth to go to the moon becasue you would get to expierience things that no man ever has before, but it would be scary because you wouldntknow if all of the technologys were working correctly.
2. i would be scared, and excited at the same time.
3.To be an astronot you must be very smart and brave

1. It would of been a very awesome exeperine. The possitive side of going to outer space is you become famouse and a hero. The negitive part was when they were having troubles like the guy who almost drowneded but they saved him but all his data was gone.

2. I would of been excited to go to outer space becasue you would be able to see the whole earth and see the beautiful view. I have when I had the Geo Bee I was nervous but it was a fun time.

3. You whould have to go to collage and study astronamy and you would have to be health and fit.

4. So they can get alot of data from the astronauts because if you sended someone into space they could see whats out there and they can talk back in forth of whats going on.

Riley Olson said...

a positive to being the first person in space is being a celebrity and making history. A bad part about it would be since your one of the first people, you have no reutine. But i would have wanted to be in Shepherds shoes to make history.

And i would have had alot of mixed emotions between fear and excitment. It would probably make me feel like when you are about to do somthing that could either be very good or very bad and your worried about the outcome.

It was important to launch somone to space because it got us information and things on the things around us and it gives us somthing to build on so somday we may be able to go to other planets and things.

1. I think that it would have been very exciting and nerve-raking to be one of the first astronauts to go to outer scape. Being in Alan's space shoes would be kind of fun but the most frightening thing I've ever done.

2. The feelings that would be going through me would be excited and scared out of my space suit.

3. I don't think that just anyone could be an astronaut. It would take a lot for anyone to keep your head straight in a life or death situation. You would have to be able to react in the smartest of ways in the most dangerous and unexpected times.

4. Sending someone into space is one of the most important things that has ever happened to the United States. It meens we can open up a whole new world of possibilities.

1: I think that it would have been amazing just to see that the impossible was there, right in front of you. But i am sure that i also would have been absolutely terrified, thinking about engine failure, cut hoses when i went out of the craft, meteors, or lack of oxegen. i am not sure how happy i would have been if i was asked, but i know that i would have been to curious for my own good.
2: i do not think that just anyone can become a astronaut. i think that they have to be able to be isolated for long periods of time, work well under stress, have a LOT of training, and be able to seperate from family for a long period of time.
3: it was important for humans becaise it was a big step in technology. also, it was a ridiculous idea , 40 years before that time, that a man could even fly up into the air. but, in 1968, a person was able to go above and beyond what any human belived possible. so, all wrapped in a nut shell, it was history.

2. i have been in a lot of plays and programs and such, but the nerves would never be able to match up. being an astronaut is life-threatening.
3. to be an astronaut, you would have to be fearless, smart, physically fit, able to work well under pressure. the most important would be able to work under pressure.

1. well it would be cool to be one of the first people to go into space but at the same time you are pretty much a test dummy and things could go wrong thats on of the disavantages to being first also you have to possiblity of dying.

2. Well i would be very nervous cause i'm one of the first people and i dont want to messs up or anything and i would of been very excited at the same time cause i would be looking at earth from outer space

4. Well at the time we were in the space race with the soviet and other coutries to put the first man in space and also it would help you gain money finding new things and discovering planets and possibly life on other planets. We need to learn about other galaxies and planets for possibly life.

1. I think it would be really cool to be one of teh first astronauts in space, a positive would be a the fame and all of your fans, I dont really know any bad things that would come from being a astronaut though.

2. I would have been super nervous before the launch, I dont really ever get nervous during anything but when I was 5 I went on my first ride on an airplane and I was very nervous.

3. Not just anyone can become an astronaut, Im sure there a many qualifications such as having a scientic backround, being in good physical condition, and being able to control your emotions during take off.

4. It was very important to send someone to space first of all to beat the Soviet Union in the space race and to gather very inportant information for scientist to research about space and the moon.

1.)It would have been great to have been the first astronauts in space.
Positives:
- You would have been the first to in outer space.
- You would haveseen something no one before you had ever seen.
- Scientist could see the data and discover more.
Negative:
- You never would know what would happen like if you would survive or if the rocket would go wrong like the challenger.
I dont know if I would have wanted to be in Alan space shoes because one you have know clue how it would go and 2 I probally dint have the guts to do it.
If I would have been in a rocket I would have been really nervous/scared and a lot of things determine how you feel like what if you have blood running to your brain that would make you feel hot.

3.Could just anyone become an astronaut? What are some of the challenges to becoming one? Which qualities are the most important?

No, you have to be physically and mentally fit. Both are important because if you werent physically fit you could die, and if you werent mentally fit, you could go crazy.

4.Why was it so important to send a human to outer space?

The U.S wanted to be the first people ever to send a person into outer space, but the soviets did it first. So the americans sent the first man into orbit, and on the moon.

1.I think it would be awsome to be like alan but the nagitives about about being the frist one is will you survive, training and getting ready before you go.The postives of this is that you get to fly in a rocket and go into outer space and look around, plus your the fist american to be up there.
2. I would be nervice going into the rocket and waiting for lift off because i would be thinking, will i die, will i be stuck in outer space. ive been nervice when there were 2 outs, 2 strikes and in the last inning and i had a guy on third, so if i hit the ball we would win the game and we did.
3. No nobody can be an astronaut you have to go throgh training and some of the challenges are trying to stay claim before lift off and hoping nothing goes wrong.
4. to see just if anyone would survive and get information of space and what is it like out there, ex. can you eat, and drink.

Ashley Zimmer said...

1. It would have been unbeleivably scary to be one of the first astronaut. First, you run a high risk of death and serious injury because you are the "giunea pig" of the project. This means that that there could still be kinks to work out that could turn into a huge disater if not fixed. You also have a ton of pressure to bring back the information that is needed. On the flip side, you would be very important to the world and will be remembered greatly.
2. Im certain that nothing can even come close to comparing to being launched into space. But I think everybody gets those butterflies in their stomach. I remember once when I was little, I needed sergury on my stomach for something. I got so nervous that I could hear my own heartbeat.
3. If you wanted to be an astronaut you would have to be brave, couragous, knowlegable, and have good reflexes in a sticky situation. I think anyone that has these qualities could be an astronaut.

Anna Mahowald said...

1. Being the first astronaut in space I think would be SOOOOO COOL! I mean yes you don't know what is going to happen, you could end up dying in space, you could end up panacing, anything could happen up there...you DON'T know. That is one thing that would have held me back, if I knew everything would be okay then I would really want to go to space. But nothing is a garantee. Then again it would be sooooo cool! Imagine how beautiful it is up there, you will get a sense of pride and accomplishment for you and your country. Like I said before, I would love to be in his shoes, only if I knew that everything would be okay though. Otherwise I would not want to be in his shoes.
2. I would have been all three, nevous, scared, but at the same time extremely excitd. I was going through some of those feelings yestarday at the opening day of the talent show. But today I don't think I will be nervous..ill be sad since it is almost over.
3. No, you must be very smart and brave.
4. It was important to send a human to outer space so NASA could acually see if their theories were correct or incorrect.

2. I think I'd be both scared and excited if I were going out into space. It'd probably be the same feeling I get before the annoucer fires the gun before track and cross country meets. Which is good but traumatizing at the same time.

3.You've got to be very intellegent to be an astronaunt, and also in good shape. You have to go through long vigorous training before becoming an astronaunt as well. It's not all just in good fun, it's hard work!

4.The U.S. desperately wanted to send a human into space to keep up with the soviets and give the nation something we could all join together for and cherish.

2. I would have been nerveous and excited because i would be the first American man to ever go to outer space and orbit.

3. You have to be healthly in everything like: mind, body, and be smart. There training was every intense they had to do alot of training to see if they can handle the Gs.

4. So we could get the title of getting first, but we didnt but we still completed a task.

2.)I would've been nervous, scared and excited because i wouldn't know if it was safe out there. I would've been excited because it would be cool going into outerspace.
3.) No because they have to be prepared to what is at risk when they go out there. Then they have to be able to fix things and take data for expirements and such
4.)It was so important because learning about space can help us learn about why/how we are here.

3. You have to be very smart to be an astronaut. You also have to be willing to go through some uncomfortable conditions.
4. So we have an idea of what it's really like out there not just ideas based off of obserbations.

2.I would probably be scared because you dont know if your going to die on your way back to Earth.
3.No because you have to go through a lot of training and go through a lot of work trying to survive a lot of G's. The most important thing would be having to leave your family and not know what might happen while being in space.
4.NASA wanted to send the first person from the United States to discover what is out there, knowing more than most people would believe is pretty important. We wouldn't know as much as we do today about the Universe if we didn't even bother leaving the Earth.

Bethany M. said...

1. the positives would be that you would get payed a lot, you'd be famous, you'd be able to see everything for the first time, and you would go down in history. the negatives would be that you could loose your life, it took a lot of training, and you'd have to leave your family and friends that you'd risk never seeing again.

2. i think it was important to send a human in outer space because the space race was going on, so the countries that were participating were frantically trying to send someone up. Also because it would be a huge thing for your country.

3. the challenges would be so much training i think. Also that thousands of people would like to be astronaut so you would have a lot of competition. some good qualities to have wouold be that you have good engineering skills, you can think in stressful situations, you're a good pilot, and being strong emotionally and physically.

3. Because we need to know what happens up there when humans are there. & what it's like.

Hailee D. said...

2. i think i would feel all three. at first like just hearing that you would be going there i would be excited. then i would get scared thinking about all the things that could happen, then i would get nervous right before going. i think i would be excited after lift off. i felt probably like the astronauts did, last March when my parents took my brother and i to a Black Eyed Peas concert, i was so excited because i love Fergie a lot she is my favorite. i also felt that feeling when i flew to arizona by myself like a week before school started in 6th grade. i was nervous and excited all day before i flew out, then i was excited the rest of the time.

3.i think it would be good to know a lot about space and flying planes. also they have to go through a lot of training before they can fly, like those spinning things that they strap into the middle of and it spins all different ways really fast.

4.it was important because we wanted to be the first country to send someone to space, but it didnt happen because the soviet union go there first.

1. It would have been an amazing journey to be one of the first people ever to be in an undiscovered place. It would be hard though not knowing what might happen or not knowing what to do. 2. I would've been nervous, scared, and excited. I would be nervous because I don't know what will happen. I would be scared again not knowing what will happen to me. I will be excited because I would be one of the first people ever to go to outer space. Yes, I have had life experiences where I have felt very nervous, scared, and excited at the same time, like the time when I got my training wheels taken off of my bike and not knowing if I could stay on my bike without falling off.

It would have been exiting to be in the space craft that is going to be shot into outer space. I have had one of these feelings in swimming in of my favorite events 200 IM.
Not just any one can be a astronaut you have to be a top phical condition and very smart in math and science. And being a engineer will help and being a scintiest will help as well.

1. To be one of the first astronauts in space would have been a very exciting, but nervous experience. One the bright side, you'd be remembered as one of the first astronauts to every enter space. On the downside, you couldn't be entirely sure if you'd make it or not. Being in Alan Shephard's shoes, I'd probably feel somewhat anxious and nervous.

3. Of course, not just anyone could become an astronaut. You'd have to be very intellegent, know what you're doing, and have special training to prepare you. Challenges they could face is delays, money issues, or even being too nervous.

4. There were many reasons that it was very important to send a human into space. For one, America and Russia was competing to see who could send someone into space first. Secondly, Scientist wanted to deeply study space in a more in-depth sort of way, making it ideal to send a human into space.

Brita C. said...

2. If I was one of the first astronauts that would be going to the moon or just orbiting I would be shocked. I would probably feel scare about what could happen and nervous being one of the first people to be in space about all the challenges or problems that could arise. I have felt some of these kinds of emotions when I was swimming at 18-19 Age group Nationals at the Flordia State (Gators Pool). If I would have messed up on my timing the routine would have been terrible. That's why we call it synchronized swimming because everyone must be together or the whole thing falls apart! But we placed 16th out of 40!

3. I don't believe that just anyone could become an astronaut because it takes lots of intense training. Your body has to be ready and able for the journey but also your mind. You have to be ready to solve a problem quickly and efficently. The most important qualities would be knowing how to drive/fly a space shuttle, having a scientific mind able to complete and run tests, and be physically able to complete the tasks.

4. We need to send a human to space so that we as a scientific community can run tests, collect samples and make new discoveries about the world around us. We as humans want to learn more about the Earth and space and what is out there in the world!

1. To be one of the first astronaunts would be pretty scary. From all the failings on the rockets I wouldn't want to be one at all. The chimp was lucky. I wouldn't have the guts to just go in a rocketship and not totally know what will happen. A positive thing for being the first one in space would be to have the oppurtunity to see things most havn't, especially close up. A negative would be not knowing what could happen while you're in space; possibly not being able to get back.. I would have wanted to be in Alan Shepards shoes but then again wouldn't want to. I would because he was the first one to actually get up in a rocketship without it blowing up. I wouldn't of wanted to be in his shoes for the fear of what would happen.
2. I would have been OVERLY nervous and scared. Being a person to go into a rocket would be terrifying. Again, like many times said before, you never know what could happen. At the same time as being nervous and scared, happiness would be drilling through my veins. Just the excitment of being about to travel up to space would be outstanding. I have had the life experienve like the astronaunts have... It takes a long time for me to feel like I'm ready for competing dance. I am one of the biggest perfectionists I will ever know for that. I have to practice a routine (each) atleast six times before I feel it's "okay". I have to practice turns, leaps, everything. Usually by the time I get to the competing stage I am so nervous I psych myself out; probably not the best thing. But, if I go out and do what I know I can do then I have the feeling I will do my best even if it's not "perfect" like I want it to be.
4. The importance of having a human being go out into outer space is to have someone/something that knows what they are doing or looking for. If you send something up there that isn't a human how do they know what to look for or what it is supposed to be researching? It is very important to have a person go up instead of something else.

1. To be one of the first astronauts, it would be amazing, but i dont know if i would want to do it. If you came back alive, you would be a hero and have so much pride, but if you could also die!

2. I would mostly be scared and nervous, but i would also be excited and happy to know that i could make history and make a lot of money. But also i would be very scared and nervous that i would die and leave my family alone. I dont really know if i have had any life experiences, but maybe when i was getting on a very scary roller coaster.

4. I think it was so important to go to the moon first before the Soviet Union so we could prove ourselves. It was also a good thing so that we could get research and determine a lot of things.

1. think it would be an amazing experience dispite the fact that it is so dangerous. some of the positves would simply being the first man on the moon it would be a huge honer.

2. I would say that it wouldn't be that nervous, but more excited than scared. I have had life experiences with a nervous time period and its not so bad.

4.it was important because we found out some intresting research about space and our planet

1. I think it would have been a very exciting opportunity to be one of the first atronauts. You'd have one of the few chances to go to the moon but since not many people have been there, it could be dangerous because of lack of knowledge about the moon.

2. I would be excited to go to the moon. I'm not sure if I have had any feelings related to go to the moon since I've never been there.

3. No, not just anyone can go to the moon. You have to be very smart and go to college probably. You'd also need to be very fit. If you weren't you wouldn't be able to control yourself in space which would end badly.

4. It's important to send people to the moon to learn more about it. We can collect things from the moon and gain knowledge about the moon. You can learn so much more by actually expirencing things rather then looking through a telescope or reading a book.

1.some positives wold be that you would famous and get lot of money and you would be the someone who expeirced it and had the cahnced to be the first. some negatives would be that your risking your life and some things moght go wrong in the rocket and you might notbe able to see your family again.
2.i would of been both really scared nervous and excited at the same tiime. some reasons that i would be scared is because i might die and not see anyone againa things could go wrong in the roccket. i would be excited to be on the moom and the fist person on the moom because you could explore a plant you have never been on and many people havent and you would be loaded with cash.
4.so people could experince and tell people whats up there. to bring home things to study in the labs. to see if astronots could be succesfull and find new life in the world.

All the presure they had to go through and makeing sure everything goes as planed and no what to do if something does go wrong.
2. Yes beacues you dont want to mess up and everybody would be watching and not wanting you to mess up
3. NO, becaues you have to be smart and no whats going on and you have to be in shape
4.To find out whats on the moon and what it is like and to learn about it and other planets and what its made of

2. I would be exited to be the one the first astronauts, i would be exited because i would trust my engineers enough that i could just go with the flow.

3. I dont think any normal person can become an astronaut, Your body, mind, and everything else has to be perfect, then more training to make you better than perfect.

4. We need send people to space to find new places to live and more resourses we can use on earth

1.i think it would of been preaty cool. postive's are that if you live you can say that you were out in space and you survied.negtive would of been that if the ship would of blown up.
2.i would of been very nervous and scared becouse it would be weird being somewhere that no one has been to yet.
4.Becouse that the Russian's were up in space and brought a man pack alive in space before anybody else and they could not even build a refrigter.

1. It would be scary because you wouldnt know what to expect when you went it to space and plus anything could happen. No i would not want to be in his shoes.
2.i would be really nervous and scared because it would be weird being somewhere that no one has been before.no.
3.no one can just become an astronaut first of all you have to be smart and you have to be somewhat athletic.

4.because the russians got the first satelite into space so we wanted to have some fame and get a person into space.

2. to be one of the first astronauts would be very exciting but it would also be very nervracking cuz if something went wrong i would be afraid i would not come back.

3. for someone to become a astronaut it takes many years of school, simulations and other things astronaut related.

4. we need to send another humen to space so we can run more tests and collect more samples so we can learn more about the world around us

The positvies of being in space would you would be one of the fist in space but the nagitives is it could have blown up and they could have died.
2.I would have been really nervious and probibly wouldnt have done it and i would have been like praying. and in a soccer game.`
3. you would have had to been fit and go through lots of tests to beable to take it.
4. so you know what is on the moon and in out of space.

2. I would be scared togo into space just because I might never get to seemy family or friends again.
3. No, not everyone could be an astronuat because you have to have specail abilities to go into space.
4. It is important to have people in space so that if our planet gets so cluttered with garbage and waste from previous generations we could find a planet or built a probe to launch the whole world population in to space.

1. I think it would be cool to be one of the first astronauts because then you'll always be in the history books as one of the first astronauts to be in space or on the moon. One of the negatives of being the first person in space would be that many stuff could go wrong and you could be hurt. I wouldn't want to be in Alan Shephards shoes because I'd be too nervous.
2. I would have been very nervous to go to the moon and I also would have been really scared too because I don't want anything to go wrong while I was up there.
3. To be an astronaut you would have to be physically fit and have to be really smart too because its hard up in space with no gravity.
4. It was very important because we wanted to beat the Soviets in the Space Race and we did by putting a man on the moon. Also, Kennedy said we'd have a man on the moon by the end of the year and we did.

1. To be one of the first astronauts would be amazing with all the discoveries to be made up there, so much different than the world we live on. The problem is, there is always the chance you could die, sometimes your body can't take the effects of space, there is plenty that could go wrong. But, on the contrary, it would be absolutely unbelievable to be out of the restraining gravity of Earth, to have the view of the universe. I don't think I would be able to take the stress the first astronauts had with all of the death possibilities and obstacles they faced.
2. I would be incredibly nervous and scared up to the point of the adventure, then just excited and exhilirated. I felt nervous every time I had a Taekwondo test. Many people have broken bones during tests and everyone is watching you performing board breaks and techniques center-stage. But thats nothing to how it would feel up to a space adventure.
3. To be an astronaut you have to go through a lot of stress and training. Your body definitely has to be able to take the affects of space, and you should be intelligent to get yourself out of situations. Also, you have to be very daring and devoted. There is also competition as to who goes up in space.

1.i would like to be one of the first astronaunts to the moon but it would be ever scary and if something did go wrong and i would never see my famliy it would be something to think about.

2.i would be very nervous and scared but in a way very excitied.

3.no you would have to be very smart and very brave to know that i could never come back would be scary.

2. If I was going to become one of the first astronauts I would be elated. Although it would be a joyful feeling, I would still be considerably jittery. I don't think I would make a good astronaut because I would let my emotions get the best of me. I would feel worried about never returning to Earth or not making a valid calculation. Gymnastics taught me how to reassure myself, and calm my adreline rushes. Still, space is not my forte.

3. Training and responsibility are two very important roles in becoming an astronaut. Your body is faced with aggressive hardships that you force yourself through. Nausia and other side effects come along with the intense job. Death is also something you may have to prepare yourself for when propelling to the infinite world. Driving and directing the shuttle and having intelligence in engineering, etc. are also essential qualities to have.

4. Our world keeps improving and advancing everyday! We can partially thank the astronauts for that because they are supplying us with the info we receive about the galaxy. All scientists are interested in is bettering Earth and finding out more about the mysterious region. We can discover facts and articles about completely different worlds by just a simple sample and a few tests. Our knowledge is accelerating more and more each day, hopefully we can continue that streak.

1.It would have been so scary! I wouldn't have wanted to go and wait forever to go and not knowing what's out there and being ready to die or not be able to come back. I wouldn't have wanted to even the second time because there is still the unknown. One of the positives would have been is being in a lot of history books and being known for generations!
2.Yes I would have been so scared and nervous and my heart rate would probably be just as fast as the first person into space. Yes I have had some of those emotions before when I was in gymnastics and it was my first meet ever but I also had a friends there, kyla snaza, so it was all good, or atleast she helped calm me down but having no one there would be horrible.
3. No I don't think just anyone could become an astronaut. I think you would have to be very smart mathmatical and know a lot about space and be taugt and go to collefge for space. Then I don't think anyone under the age of maybe 25 should go because they would be too young and not know enough. Some of the challenges may be no actually knowinghow it is until your up there, because like they have stimulations but that can only prepare you so much the rest is based on yourself, bealieving in yourself and knowing your doing it right. Another challenge would be not used to having any gravity... aleays having to weigh yourself down and spinning. And thirdly would be not having actual food, having specailty space food which is i think like babyfood?
4.It was very important to send a human to outerspace and I think that it still is very important. One reason is because we could stay as caught up as other countries or exceed further than other countries into the unknown. Also so we,as americans could know what's out there, and make sure all of the illusions are not true! And thirdly so we could find out more about OUR planet, the circumfrace and measurments ans stuff. Also so we could find out about all the other planets and fine more! :)

1) If I were one of the first humans into space, I would be pretty dang lucky. I would be so excited! It's not like everyday some special human gets to go up beyond the clouds! Ferreal! It would be so cool..! Well airplanes go beyond the clouds, but like..you know what I mean. Like beyond the clouds and the birdies and further than the planes. I'm talkin about space! Some of the negatives about going into space is that you would have to wear those terrible outfits, that arn't pretty at all. But I guess they are a good thing to wear cause then I can still breath and not die.

2) Oh man,I feel scared, nervous, and excited like... all the time! I have a lot of emotions inside of me. But anyways, If I got to go into space I would have even more of those emotions! A lot more! I would be all three of those things. Because I would be nervous that I wouldn't be comin back down to gravity any time soon..since I would probably be up there for a while. Or I may not even be able to come back ever! Whatif the guys I was with cut my cord and just left me hangin? That wouldn't be the correct bro thing to do.. but some people, I tell ya. At the same time I would be excited because like I said before, not very many special get to go to space!

3) No! Only special people can go to space. Not Normal people. They wouldn't have the endurance to handle the coolness outside of this planet so called Earth.. That's what I think anyways. They would cry like a baby up there! They so would not be able to handle. But now special people... also know as the "un-normal" Could so handle the amazingness of space. But I suppose if you a brave normal being, you could handle it. I think you have to be brave to be an Astranant.

4) It was so important to send a human to space because we people here on earth had no clue what lay above us. That would be scary living in a world we call "home" And not knowing what could possibly be happening outside of our planet. So, it's a good thing we sent a human up there to see what's up there, and to see how space works. It was a great idea! Whoever's plan that was is a pureee Geniousss and deserves a pat on the back!
