"Thanks, Atmosphere" RAFT

Whether we are conscious of it or not, we owe a lot to our atmosphere. It protects us from harm, and provides us with what we need to live. I would like you to write to the atmosphere detailing how it is able to accomplish these things for us. This is your topic, but you may choose your "role", "audience", and "format". For ideas and instructions, click here (they are also in your packet):

After reading the directions you can begin to write your letter, advice column, series of text messages, journal entry, or whatever it is you choose to write. Once you have made the necessary revisions and corrections, copy and paste your creation into a comment on this post.

Good luck to all of you. Let the creative juices flow.

Dear Atmosphere,
Thank you for all of the wonderful things you do. Including protecting me from meteors, ultra-violent light, and for letting me breathe. By the way I have written you a poem.
Atmosphere
Your weather makes me happy and your weather makes me sad.
Your temperatures go up and down, which makes me smile and makes me frown.
Your clouds are white and fluffy like the cotton in my pillow.
Your seasons are astounding like a platypus armadillo.
I only have one question for you.
Why do you the things you do?
From,
Earth

Dear Journal,
The Atmosphere is amazing! It keeps life on Earth and without it we would not exist. It contains the air that we need to breathe, it gives us the beautiful seasons that we love ever so much (except for winter). Without our atmosphere we might not have the air preesure that is needed on Earth to live, for it could not be contained otherwise. And without the atmosphere, if we were even able to survive, we'd be floating off the Earth, like the minion in Despicable Me. That poor minion. How he got up there I don't know. The atmosphere should've contained him, because he didn't exactly have all the force he needed to break through the atmosphere. And how did he manage to stay on the moon when he couldn't stay on the Earth. The world may never know, like we will never know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. If anyone knows, I would like to hear the answer.

Dear Atmosphere,
Thank you for being who you are today! We all rely on you so much. You are the reason for our existence and I thank you. You are a huge part of our everyday lives and really are the reason we are alive and breathing today. You hold the air we breathe! And most of all… thank you for giving us our seasons. You are the reason we live our daily lives the way we do and I thank you for that. I am sure every human being on this earth is grateful for your existence as well.
Your thankful earthling,

Dear Saturn’s Atmosphere,
How’s it going, buddy? I am pretty good, but not my best. I used to be able to block all of the ultraviolet rays the sun threw at me, but not anymore. Those people that I am protecting are ironically the ones that are destroying me. Well, the jokes on them, because ultraviolet rays cause cancer, and I am not the one that can get cancer, they are. You’re so lucky. You don’t have anyone to worry about, or to break you apart.
On the bright side, not a single meteor has survived my defenses and caused any real damage. I still have that going for me. And the plants are supplying me with plenty of oxygen for the little ingrates (humans) to consume. I have decided to turn up the heat on them, see if they will pollute a little less. I hope they remember how nice and cool it used to be…
Sincerely,
Earth’s Atmosphere

Dear Atmosphere, Thank you for protecting us from suns harmful rays. I can tell you how much I appreciate the oxygen you provide me with. You also help us take in the amount of light we need to change the weather and stuff. You also provide weather which gives us rain. And the rain is necessary to grow crops and food. So thanks for supporting our life here.:)

Dear, Atmosphere

I just wanted to let you know that am really mad because you protect me from the suns rays. I really want to get a good tan. Also you keep me stuck to the ground. I cant jump over my friend Joey. He is Super Short. ( Mr. Hoegh Joey is completely ok with this.) Also you destroy meteors from hitting us. Why some people deserve to get hit by meteors. Last I would like to thank you though for letting us breath your fresh air.

Dear Atmosphere,
Thank you for protecting us. You provide a safe haven. Without you, we wouldn't have plants. Without plants, we wouldn't have oxygen. you protect us from meteors. We would have craters without you. You protect our homes. We all appreciate you.

Dear atomosphere,
YOu protect us from meteors. You cause the plants to grow. My home is made of wood which you made grow. Humans eat food that you grow. I am made of the atmosphere and i breathe it. My cute little puppies breath you. Corn is made of you. The ozone you have is one of the most important things ever. I like the flowers you make grow.

Dear Atmosphere,
I just wanted to tell you how much i aprecitate you! If you did not exist i don't know how the people living on me would survive. Yes that sounds weird but it is fun being planet Earth. Enought about me back to you, how do you do it. You are the only reason people are alive to day. You bring joy to all of us down here. We need oxygen and you bring it. Trees need carbon dioxade and you bring it to them. When there are meteors, you protect us.I really dont know what i would do with out you!
Sincerly,
Planet Earth! <3

Dear Atmosphere,
All of the things you do are amazing like letting us breath.
All of the seasons you cause could change the hearts of thousands.
The times that you saved us from radiation are unforgettable.
After all the weather to change the moods, everyone still loves you.
The times you burn the meteors and save our life.
When you are the one that protects us from ultra-violent light.
You can change our weather.
But everyone has one question why do you do what you do?
From,
Earth

Dear, Atmosphere thank you so much for all the help. You always protect me. Like when you stop those meteors from hitting me and putting those ugly craters in me, unlike the moon. Also thanks for helping my friends on me by keeping the sun's rays from hurting them. They all are very grateful just like me. Also they are happy that you provide them air to live. Once again thanks and hope to repay you.

Dear Atmosphere,
Thank you. You help me breath and you keep me warm. You have a warm blanket type thing that traps the heat in and keeps the coldness from coming in. I appreciate all the stuff you do for me and everyone else on this planet. Thank you Atmosphere.

Malia - Hey, Atmosphere!

Atmosphere - Hello!

M - So, how are you doing?

A - Oh, I'm good. No meteors are hitting yet, so it's all clear skies. Well, except for that hurricane in Thailand . . . How are you?

M - I'm awesome, thanks to you.

A - C'mon, I don't do that much.

M - Are you kidding? Without you, I'd be fried. No, actually, I wouldn't even be here. The earth would be like the moon.

A - Stop it!

M - No, I just wanted to thank you, Atomsphere. So, thanks.
