Write a creative story or poem describing what "Rocky" would experience as he/she goes through the Rock Cycle. Make sure that you describe how this piece of sediment could become part of 3 different types of rock, and how it could become magma.

__I sit there just feeling the water over me then all of the sudden i get washed out to sea! slowly over many, many years more fellow sand and other things start to pile up on top of me. Eventually we get squashed toghter into a rock. Some people dig us up from under the lake and crush us for some reason. The wind carriers me away slowly until i see something, a giant volcano! The wind drops me off right into the mouth of the volcano! There i cool with a pool of magma deep within the earth, becoming a new rock. Slowly i move further and further down into the earth, there because of heat and pressure i become another kind of rock! I slowly make my way back up to the surface to start my journey all over again!_____please don’t post
I began my life as magma. I cooled and became igneous rock. I stayed that way for a long time. eventually i eroded away to a big ocean. I layered into a sedimentary rock. I sank into a tectonic fold then with intense heat and pressure I became metamorphic rock. But the crazy thing is i got into a stream of magma and became igneous rock again after i cooled again.

Then i melted and turned into magma. I cooled and turned into an igneous rock. I solidified and turned into sediment. Then weathering, eroision, and desposition took its spot and i turned into a grain of sand.
__I am a tiny grain of sand. This is a story about how i am going to turn into a big rock. First I started as a sedimentary rock and that is a grain of rock. next I will turn into a metamorphic rock. That is when the earths crust collides, and goes downward in the crust and turn into lava. next is magma the hot liquid that forms when rock partially or completely melt. The next is igneous rock. The sand grains from step 1 have changed a lot, but they will change much more. once there, the magma cools and hardens it becomes igneous rocks. Next i will be sediment. That is uplift and erosion expose the igneous rock a the earths surface. The igneous rocks weather and wears away into grains of sand and clay. That is how I will become a big rock._
Rock Cycle.
I am Rocky the igneous rock. I am a giant compared to the rest of the rocks in this valley, I am almost the size of a quarter! The rain and wind has broken my conscious part of me off and has carried me to a stream. I am now at the bottom of a lake. I don´t know how long ive been here, a few million years maybe. The particles around me are forming a tighter bond with me and are forming one rock. It is now really hot and im some red, gooey, liquid. The force under me keeps pushing me towards a hole. The hole is no below me and im falling down a mountain at a slow rate. The cold air is cooling me and im hardening into rock. i cool with being metamorphic, now i have friends.
Hi! I’m Rocky. Right now I am a tiny, tiny grain of sand. It’s a hard, and repetitive life being a grain of sand. I literally feel like I have done all this before. This is what I’ve been through.
I started out at my house on the ocean floor. My house is super compacted. Over the years my house got more, and more compacted until I (and the others) turned into Sedimentary rock. It was nice be a sedimentary rock, but after a while I changed. During this change I was under intense heat, and pressure far under the Earth’s surface. I turned into a Metamorphic rock. It was cool, but a tough time for me.
Eventually I turned into magma otherwise known as molten hot rock. I didn’t stay magma for long, but after some cooling I rose to the surface of Earth. This is where I finished cooling and became an Igneous rock. I stayed an igneous rock for quite some time. Eventually I got weathered, eroded, and deposited. Then I finally returned back to my home on the ocean floor. Home is definitely where I will always want to return to. Bye!
Where to begin, hmm... Lets start at the beginning. It all started when I was a little bit of magma in a volcano. One day the volcano started to make some strange noises. Then I started to rise up a bit at at a time. Finally I was at the brim of the volcano. Then I started to fall out of it. I kept going until i hit some rock that didn’t let me travel over it. At that time I felt myself growing colder and colder until I was a solid surface.
I felt what I was coming to me. I was an … Igneous rock. I was stuck in this form for awhile. Then I felt myself get washed way by a river. Little bits of me were getting washed away. Finally I was washed entirely away. I followed the river (by force) until I was only a little pebble. I then became a sedimentary rock. Then over many years i was buried under multitudes of other pebbles in that river. I then felt a very warm spot to my right. That heat is what made me into the next stage of my life. A Metamorphic rock. I was one with many other rocks.
Other then many different changes, these were the forms that I took in my life as a rock. And I plan on going into these change over the milenia. That is my life as a rock.

Hi my name is Rocky and I´m going to tell you about my journey through the rock cycle! First to start out I was a sedimentary swimming at the bottom of the ocean, and then one day I realized that I was compacted and cemented together, with my friends, to the ocean floor. Because we united as one and are very good friends, we made a sedimentary rock. And then just one day when me and my friends were hanging out we all of a sudden went down. I could feel the intense heat and pressure from all the squeezing. I know that I was changing and it wasn´t fun. And then it hit me. The burning sensation of the magma, was melting me and now I was part magma and part rock. As I went up and almost out that was my cooling break and then when I harden all the way back into a rock. But I wasn´t just an ordinary rock I was a igneous rock. An igneous rock is where once I get out of the magma I cool and solidify. And then there´s an uplift. I was lifted up out of the earth and onto the surface. This is wear I was weathers and worn away to be carried by the wind to a new home. And after all that I have to go through it again, and meet all new friends!:)
Rocky was a grain of sand and everyone hated him. Then one day a bad storm came through and weathered Rocky with down pouring rains and gusty winds. Then all of a sudden Rocky got blasted by a gust of wind and fell off the cliff into the river, which would of been the erosion. Then Rocky settled at the bottom of the river as sediment. The next day another bad stormed happened and all his rock friends joined him at the bottom of the river. This happened over and over again until Rocky couldn’t stand it. Then he got compressed into a rock and sat on the bottom of the lake. Rocky turned 1 million years old when this happened. What a great birthday! All of Rocky’s rock friends got turned into new beautiful rocks too. All of these rocks got turned into sedimentary rocks.
Hi my name is “Rocky,” I was the best rock there was. I change from rock to rock like an old weathering rock. I use to be the biggest rock there was a couple million years ago and everyone would fear me. But now i am a little small wimp that is afraid of everything. Everytime the wind comes I cry and get a little more broken down. I change from Igneous rock to Sedimentary rock like a baby, I use to change like a boss. I get turned into a Igneous rock from magma cooling, I change from Igneous to a Sedimentary rock by weathering, eroding, and depositing. I get changed into a metamorphic rock by intense heat and pressure. I got changed into a grain of sand one day and I loved it there on the beach watching the sun rise with the girls next to me. O I learned to love being a grain of sand and I would hope I never got changed again. O I loved it so much that when the other rocks would look at me being played with by the little kids I would laugh and scare the kid. I didn’t like being feared anymore because I liked being played with by others. I love the rock cycle.
___once upon a time there was a rock and it was a very busy rock always changing form. every day i am in my home on the lake then more of my friends rockily and rockoniaa pile up in top ofme and this is compaction and cementation. now i am forced downward and become metamorphic rock. with graet depths great heat and intensity . now i get a little sobby and melt to magma i have completely melted and am a hot liquid.then i cool down a little bit and become igneous rock. magma is less Dense than regular rock so then i go up. now solidification has occurred now back to sediment with erosion and uplift i slowly make my way back down the hill. and end up back in the lake and do it all over again. ____
__Hi my name is “Rocky”. I have been a whole different types of rock through my 500 billion year old journey. It all started when the wind came. I was a little grain of sand on the beach. I loved it there, there were little kids running all over me, and big dads sitting on my. The only bad part was when they farted. One day a huge wind storm came. I was picked up and thrown all around. When it stopped i was in the bottom of the ocean. I made new friends there. We were super tight, so tight that me and him and a bunch of other random guys turned into one sedimentary rock. After a lot of time we we all felt this burning in us. We were going to die we all said. The intense heat and pressure made us all cry. Then we figured out we were turning into a metamorphic rock. We all were happy. After we settled in we all started rumbling and went flying up in the air. We landed on the ground and started to cool down. I looked around and then i noticed that i was know a ingneas rock. Now im stuck here waiting to go back to the beach. I hope il be there soon.
If a grain of sand was alive it could be practically be any type of rock it wants to be. It could be magma by melting itself at extreme heat. It could be an igneous rock by cooling itself as magma. It could be a sedimentary rock if it weathers, erodes, or dispositions. Or Finally a Metamorphic rock with intense heat and pressure

The grain of sand would start in the hills or mountains. First it would be eroded from the hills and mountains. Then it would wash down a river to the ocean. Eventually, the grain of sand would begin to form thick layers on the ocean floor and would be compacted and cemented together to form a sedimentary rock. As a sedimentary rock, the grain of sand would change by intense heat and pressure heat would squeeze the sand into metamorphic rock. Then the magma will rise to higher levels of the Earth’s crust and it will cool and solidify to become igneous rock.
___Once upon a time, Rocky, a grain of sand, came to life. She told the world of her life as she changed from one form of rock to another. These rocks include, metamorphic, sedimentary, igneous, and magma. Young Rocky’s story started when she was hot magma deep in the earth. But once the magma was brought outside of the earth’s core, it cooled and young Rocky was amazingly transformed into igneous rock. From there, uplift and erosion exposed little Rocky and she weathered away only to become what is know as a sediment. Then weathering and erosion took place once again and Rocky was turned into sedimentary rock. She formed thick layers with other grains of sediment and sand on the bottom of the ocean. Once upon a time there was sedimentary rock named Rocky. He rolled down a hill into a river onto a large pile at the ocean floor joining a big group of rock! Rocky wasn't happy as a sedimentary rock, and neither was anyone else. They would collide, and go deeper and deeper into the earth getting hotter and hotter! Soon Rocky and all his friends became metamorphic rock. But then....... Rocky came in contact with magma and started to melt and turned into magma. Once he became magma, he started rising up. Rocky soon cooled down and turned into igneous rock. After erosion and uplifting, Rocky was at the surface. He wore into a grain of sand, and turned into sediment again.
Rocky was all but a tiny grain of sand, then one day, Rocky was blown into an active volcano. He mixed with the magma to form lava, after many years, the volcano erupted and he became lava. The lava then cooled and turned into obsidian. In the 2 days later a giant thunderstorm came in and it rained heavily and broke the part Rocky was in. He flowed down the runoff into a near-by lake and he sank to the bottom. He was there for many years then he solidified and bonded with other minerals to form limestone. Then, after 100’s of years, intense heat broke down from limestone back to a grain of sand. Rocky washed up on shore. Then he “sunk” down into the earth and started to form marble. Then again after 100’s of years, after intense heat and pressure, Rocky split up and became a grain of sand, but stayed under-ground. Lastly, Rocky formed into marble by heat and pressure. And he stayed that way for 1000’s of years.
It all began when I was a sedimentary rock. I was compacted and changed into a metamorphic rock. Then I melted and became magma. Then I cooled down and became and igneous rock. Then I began to weather and I became a grain of sand.
Weathering-Oi was a wock in New Joisey.First Oi was weaddered down. Erosion- Then with erosion carried me to a river bwought to the delta with depoisition. Compactoin- Oi wois coimpacted for millions of yeeas. Then it toinnns into metamoiphic wock with the cowision with the cwust. Oi was then Oi was toitured and meelted with the moigma. After yeeas of woiting Oi was coolded. Oi was going through the sowidification. Oifter that Oi was back in New Joisey. And thats when Moi story was done.
_Rocky was a piece of shell......It all started when i finally broke away from that mollusk shell. Over the years i go weathered and eroded to a tiny piece of sedimentary rock(sand). After that i got washed down a river to help form thick layers on the ocean floor. After a while i got compacted and finally i broke apart when some of the earth’s crust collided. And that made me heat into a packed metamorphic rock. I later got melted down into magma where i melted at an intense heat. It took a while but i started cooling off to turn myself back into a rock. I’ve changed a lot but now I’m an igneous rock. But I’m not quite done yet! I got pushed up even more, and got weathered and eroded to bring me back into a grain of sand!

My life as a rock has been very dangerous, from going to the bottom of the ocean to being in a volcano and then coming back up on the surface again.Here, let me explain. Me, and my fellow sand friends were eroded from hills and mountains and then washed down a river into the ocean. It was a pretty traumatic experience getting swept away into the great depths of the ocean when I least expected it. Over a period of time, thick layers were formed on the ocean floor which then eventually, I was compacted and cemented together, forming a sedimentary rock. That was not the last of the Rocky Cycle however, next up some large pieces of the Earths crust collided causing some of the rock, including me, to be forced down ward. Now, I was at the great depths of the ocean with the extreme heat and pressure which eventually changed me, sedimentary rock, into a metamorphic rock. Then, I meet a very “friendly” friend who I thought I would be able to spend a lot of time with. However, I did not know that she was part of this very dangerous group called magma. She lured me in and turned me into one of them, causing me to melt into the form of magma just like her. Because I was magma now, I was less dense than the surrounding rock which made me rise to higher levels of the earths crust. Since I was further away from the hot depths of the ocean below, I cooled down and turned into a solid igneous rock.
It was a Friday and I just got eroded from the side of a hill. Eventually I got forced down into the earth and got crushed together to form a metamorphic rock. It was really hot though, with a lot of heat and pressure it was not a fun time. Next, my favorite part was when I got melted by magma then turned into it. Ever since I became magma I started to rise more in the Earth towards the surface. Once the magma cools, I, Rocky Rock now became an igneous rock. After that I ended up right where i left off.

so here i am, a little metamorphic rock, when all of a sudden some water comes into my cracks. and i was like " hey, get outta my cracks!" but he didnt. they stayed and froze and cracked me clean off my cliff. i fell into the ocean below. which is weird since i didn’t know there was an ocean down there. the water swept me on to the bottom. there, im sad to say, i sat for about... 5 million years. all the while i was cemeted in to sedimentary rock. let me tell you - it was so uncomfortable! slowly though, i moved towards lava. then one day, out of the blue, it took me in. i felt so hot, i hated! well, the volcano must of sensed that because it spit me out 2 million years later. it took me a while to cool off, but when i did, i was an igneous rock. and i loved it!
First rockey starts of as a grain of sand, next he gets put into layers and layers of sand and that forms sedimentary rock. Then he got really hot and turned into metamorphic rock.Next he turns into Magma which is melted rock. It cools into igneous rock.
This is a story about Timmy. One day a little rock named Timmy came into this world. He excelled at almost everything he did, so people called him metamorphic. Life was great for little Timmy, until High School. Weathering High, being one of the little rocks their really got to him, he became known as sedimentary. He was at that awkward stage... really grainy you could say... Anyway, he was ugly until junior year when he got REALLY hot, behind his back, all the girls called him magma. He was barely reconizable he was so hot. until College, he packed on a few pounds.. and became less hot, so now he Igneous rock. You go Timmy!

After that he would be melted and turned into magma. Then the volcano would erupt and Rocky would cool and become a igneous rock. Rocky was hot magma. Once upon a time Rocky was an Igneous Rock, cooled magma, wondering where the world will take him next. He was on top of a hill when he started being weathered down to a small, fragile piece of sediment._Sediment is another word for sand and clay and since Rocky was so small he got picked up by a river and traveled down it with all of his rock buddies. After they got to the bottom, they they turned into sedimentary rock on the ocean floor. When Rocky turned 6 years old he made it into Compaction and Cementation, also known as the bottom layers of the earth. He met some new friends when he saw Metamorphic Rocks. Rocky was really nervous and didn’t know what was going on when he started Metamorphism. Hes Metamorphic friends said don’t worry, we are just being pushed downward in intense heat and pressure heat to turn into Magma! Rocky said he started melting because he was getting to close to the hot liquid , AKA Justin Bieber, he started to turn into magma along with his Metamorphic Rock buddies. I am a grain of sand. I started off as magma lava. I was left on the side of the volcano shortly after it erupted. After I cooled down, I became an igneous rock. With extreme heat, rock weathers, and erodes, I am depositioned. I then turned into a sedimentary rock. After intense heat and pressure I turned into a metamorphic rock. I was broken down by mechanical weathering, and now I am what I am. That was the life story of a grain of sand.
Mr. Hoegh.... I have a HUGE question. Why is coal classified as sedimentary rock? I know it has partly decomposed plant material that is changed by heat and pressure. But what I don't get is the last part. Shouldn't it be metamorphic rock because it was changed by heat and pressure? not sedimentary? please tell me the answer in class. I'm really confused!!! Once upon a time Morgan was born. Morgan was a grain of sand! She had a good childhood...until she hit middle school. She had to go to a school where it was very squished. It was called sedimentary rock high school. Slowly as the months went by, Morgan started becoming really hot and fell under peer pressure. She became a metamorphic rock! :)
