when we discussed about global warming we had to make a hypothsis, then we had to do some research on global warming, and do some test runs or labs to prove certain things to increase global warming then we make a conclusion on it.

I liked the discussion about global warming. We had the problem about global warming, researched on it, came to our own conclusion of what we thought caused it, talked and debated on it, and then some people changed their minds.

the GPS activity, we had to guess where the capsules were, then try and find, then if we didnt find it, we would have to repeat the process

one of the things we did in science was the GPS scavengerhunt. What we did for step one was figure out what the problem was and that was figuring out where the canisters are. Our research was to figure out how to use the navigator and use it right. Then for our hypothesis was where we thought the first one was and we had to hunt it down. Next for the experiment we had to test the navigator and find them which we did as our results. As the conclusion we got sixth place.

I think that my favorite thing that we learned about this year was the density of hot and cold. i loved doing the water activity with the blue and red water. The scientific steps that we had to take for this activity were A: What is the point of this project (Purpose)? B: what did we need to do that would tell us what would happen? (research)C: making a guess on what would happen when we poured them both in to the cotainer container (Hypothesis)? what did happen (Expirement)? How the waters mixed (results) and what we ended on (conclusion.

earlier this year, me and Ben Jammin did the relative humitidy lab. First we made a hypothesis to see which spot we thought would have the highest humidity. Next we expieremented and found out which spots had the highest relative humidity. Then we got our data and made a conclusion on which ones had the highest density.

This year i had a good time with the GPS contest. It was great to get outside and run around for once in school. The purpose was to help us learn navigation skills, research was finding all the waypoints, hypothesis was finding which points were the closest, experiment was getting out there and trying to find out if you could find them, results were we only found 4 but ended up in 5th place, conclusion we could of done a better job not looking for one geo cash in one place.

When we did the humidity lab, that was fun. The problem was finding the humidity. The research was using your data and putting it on the table. We then hypothesized what we thought the humidity would be. For our experiment we went outside and collected data. Our results were pretty good, and we put it in the table. We figured out the humidity.

When we did the identification of the rocks. our purose was to find the identification of different types of rocks. Then we did our research on a sheet of paper that had discriptions of rocks. My hypothisis was that it would be easy. Then our experiment was actually finding the types of rocks. My results were that it was harder to do than we thought. My conclusion is that it is hard to identify types of rock.

The goecashing was propally the mose fun and one of the greatest science classes. The purpose for this was to find and learn to use a GPS. The research we did was we talked to people about which were the hardest and the easitest. But they never revealed the spots. Are
hypothesis was to start furthest away and work are way in(but we dint do it all). The experiment we did was we went to one straight across from the parking lot then we went over to the construction site then we went to the soccer field and then the woods area, then the conrner diagnal from mms.
The results/analysis were very good we did a lot of exercise but we got a lot of points to bad we couldnt find one of them or else we would have one mabey we might.
The conclusion was that if you work your ways to the harder ones first you will get more points and always set your alarm a few minites earlier.!!!!!!!! But it was really fun! :D thanks Mr.Hoegh.

Relative Humidity Lab

The purpose was to find the relative humidity in different places using a psychrometer.

We researched about humidity, relative humidity, adn other factors that affect relative humidity.

My hypothesis of the north oarking lot and yard was of around 60% relative humidity.

We went outside and measured the relative humidity by having a dry bulb and a wet bulb and by slightly spinning the psychrometer.

The results were pretty accurate. The north yard and parking lot averaged between 60-65% relative humidity.

My hypothesis was right, the relative humidity was around 60% in the north parking lot and yard.

Problem: I didn't know what my poem in Language Arts should be about.
Research: I went online to get some ideas.
Hypothesis: I created an idea and brainstormed what flavorful words I could use.
Experiment: I started writing the poem.
Analyze: I liked it, but I wanted to make a few ajustments to make it flow better.
Conclusion: I loved the way it turned out and I got 100% on the poem!

one of the activities that we did was the human density lab. our puprose was to find out what damions density was. we didnt really research for this, other than learning how to caluclate density. my hypothesis was that damion would make a lot of the water spill over the top. then he went in and a lot of the water came out. it turns out my hypothesis was correct. in conclusion, damions density was too much so there wasnt enough room for the water.

Relative Humidity
Purpose: to find the humidity in the air in different places
Research: I know that the warmer it is the larger the humidity is
Hypothesis: I predicted that outside it would have a different relative humidity than inside.
Expirement: we went into the girls bathroom and we went outside
Results: The girls bathroom had a smaller relative humidity than outside
Conclusion: the relative humidity was larger outside, meaning that outside it must have been warmer.

im doing the scientific method on the gps savenger hunt.first the purpose- the purpose of the gps savenger hunt was to see who can find the most plastic cans on the gps map and how many will you find in a certain a mount of time. second the research- mr. Hoegh had to do alot of research to find were to put all the plastic cans. thrid thing is the hypotesis- my hypotesis of the gps was that everyone was going to have a good time and be conpetive and thats how it turned out. The forth step is experiment. when i experimented the gps contest i thought it was very fun and joyful. the second to last step results/analysis. i thought the results for gps was great but my results for my team were dredful. Finally the last step the conclusion. In conclusion i think this activity was very fun and i wouldnt change a thing.

Purpose: To conclude what the class thinks on global warming by having the socratic seminar.
Research: We researched for a couple of days online and in articles, finding research to support our thoughts.
Hypothesis: I thought that global warming couldn't be stopped... the percentage that we could control was tiny compared the the percentage that couldn't be controlled.
Experiment: We held the socratic seminar in class, listening to each person and what their take on global warming was.
Results/analysis: We all eventually agreed.
Conclusion: The conclusion that we mostly agreed on was that global warming was natural.

For my example im going to pick the Gps contest. The problem was going to find all the points on the Gps. The research was us looking at the instructions to help us. Our hypothesis was going to try to follow the best teams around or just follow the path the Gps gave us. Our experiment worked great because we saw another team pick one up and then we followed them. Our data that came out all right because we got fifth in the contest. So our conclusion is read the instructions better and try to get tips from Mr.Hoegh.

At one point we were given blocks of different materials and we had to figure out what each was. After we realized what the question was and what had to be done, we had to research the materials to find out how to classify them. Then we made our hypothesis about what materials would be what. after we made our hypothesis, we expiremented by finding the streak, hardness, etc. When we got the information we needed, we looked over it all and matched the unkown materials to their name. Finally, we wrote down our answers and drawed our conclusion.

Problem: One problem was that we wanted to get to 100000 viewers on the blog to get t-shirts

Research: We as a team came up with many t-shirt ideas

Hypothesis: Our hypothesis was that we should go home and refresh as many times as possible

Experiment: I went home and refreshed the blog

Results: My hands hurt and i didn't get it to 100,000 viewers

Conclusion: I should try over the summer to get it to 100,000

Scientific method for: GPS activity
Problem: We need to find waypoints in order to beat the other teams.
Research: We learned about how to use the GPS's in class.
Hypothesis: We can use the GPS's in order to find the waypoints.
Experiment: Sam, Matt, and I used GPS's in order to find the waypoints before other groups.
Analyze Data: We found some way points but other groups found more.
Conclution: You can find waypoints with a GPS. But Sam and Matt aren't very helpful... just kidding...or am I?

GPS lab.
- Purpose (to find the geocache treasure)
- Research (None)
- Hypothesis (go for the closest areas first, for others would go for the hardest ones)
- Experiment (went outside with a GPS and your group and tried to find many different points)
- Results/Analysis (Found only 3 goecache, it harder than it looks)
- Conclusion (Ended up getting 4th place out of our class! Was a good experience)
:)

Activity: GPSing (if thats a word)
Purpose: to find the keypoints faster than your opponent.
Research: not much experience
Hypothesis: will going to the closest points help is find the most?
Experiment: went out and did the GPS activity
Results: im still not quite sure if it makes a difference since we only found two points.
Conclusion: going to closer points first doesnt make a diference.

One activity we did that included all steps of the Scientific Method was when we measured the mass and find volume of different objects. For example: wood, brass, rubber, etc. The purpose was to learn how to measure mass and find volume. We researched by seeing what each object was made out of (at least I did). We hypotheesised how much each object would way for mass and determined the volume that way. We experimented with a triple-balance-beam. We found out the results from looking at the triple-balance-beam of how much mass each was. The conclusion was to see which was more dense or had the highest mass and volume.

when we did the which heated faster lab we determined that the problemb was we didnt know which heated faster land or water. so we made a guess and figured out how to test it. then we tested until we were satisfied with our results. we finaly decided that our hypothesis was correct

i liked the GPS thing we just did
1 the purpose was to learn how to use a gps
2 we researched were the beakers would be to see if we could use to gps properally
3i thought we would win the contest for finding the most beakers
4 we went out and looked for beakers using the gps
5 the floor which is my group did find the most
6 we were able to use the gps to find the most beakers

when you tried to break the board the problem was "how can i break this board" so you came up with using a newspaper to weigh down the board and you broke the board right in half so you were right to move the newspaper further back to get the board to break.

having you has my teacher and know that it was a great year

The land vs. water lab included all six steps of the scientific method. The first was that we asked the question whether land or water heated up faster and then whether it cooler faster. We gathered that land doesn't hold temperatures as well as water. We then made the hypothesis that land cooled and heated faster than water. We tested this with sand, water and a lamp. We analyzed the data and discovered that the land heated and cooled faster than the water. We then concluded that land heats up faster than water as well as cools faster.

When we did the blue and red water lab. The purpose was to see the warm and cold water seperate. We researched the different densities of warm and cold water. We made a hypothesis when we predicted the outcome of the two different waters. We expiremented by putting the waters together. The result was the two different waters that were seperated. We made the conclusion that waters that have different temperatures, have different densities.

well earlier this year we did a lab called hydrogen "whoop" which we learned the effects of hydrogen. we learned about what hydrogen effects the air. our prediction had to be about what would happen when hydrogen came in contact with heat. we took hydrogen and heat and combined them to see what happens. we analyzed and recorded our results on paper. our conclusion was that hydrogen+heat= POP!!!!!!!!!

One thing that we did this school year, was the Human Bohr Model. Our purpose was to show the people of the world what it sort of looks like inside an atom. We had to research about the atom and learn how it moved and how you got certain numbers of electrons, neutrons and protons. Our hypothesis was that we would be sucessful at doing the experiment, and we were. We successfully completed the experiment and all the electrons, neutrons and protons knew when to go out and how many to send. In conclusion, we got an awesome video and got to show the world the indide of the atom! (enlarged)

Severe Weather Research
Purpose: To learn about the different kinds of severe weather
Research: Researched for our severe weather projects (Mine was a prezi on hurricanes)
Hypothesis: We thought that hurricanes were only formed by winds
Experiment: Presented our prezis
Analyze: Our hypothesis was wrong
Conclusion: They are formed by two thunderstorms hitting each other

This has been a great year! I learned so much and can't wait to keep progressing in my coming years of science. Astronomy was definitely my favorite topic although most of the demo's that Mr. Hoegh performed were memorable. The more educated I become in the scientific era.. the more stoked I am to keep improving. The activitys and classroom atmosphere was wonderful. I can only hope that it will be this exciting and have this much worth in the future.
